Front Cover Experiments
I've been exploring the idea of using a screen printed image as my front cover. Vintage bikes have been a trend in Bristol, so I'd like to focus the theme of my front cover on the spread as well the vintage bike trend in Bristol I would like the spread to look quite rough and full of texture to illustrate a sort of vintage and grungy feel.
In order to do this, I went to the screen printing room for a print session and experimented with a few of images to see if I actually liked the effect of the screen print. Here's what my images turned out to look like.
As you can see I did end up with some slightly rough textures in my screen printed images. I wanted to screen print images in layers over each other to create a full portrait. But after this result, I decided to discontinue the experiment and focus on something else. The images didn't come out how i expected and the overall look seemed too plain in comparison to what i had in mind.
I may come back to the idea again for my final major project but for now, I'm just going to leave this behind. Despite the fact that I wasn't too happy with the image, I still experimented with the screen prints. Here's what I created quickly on Illustrator.
